About Boxcar
Boxcar is a St. Louis-based band built around songs that travel. What began as singer-songwriter Jorge Valcárcel carrying melodies from town to town has evolved into a collaborative project, with the band now co-writing and shaping the music together. Freight trains and hurricanes; unforgettable people and sleepless nights; longing, wonder, heartbreak, and hope; Boxcar's songs distill these experiences into a plaintive wail that only a coyote and the human heart know. Rooted in acoustic pop and infused with the energy of a full band, the songs invite sing-alongs, dancing, and the occasional lump in the throat.
The current St. Louis lineup is the strongest yet, bringing new voices and ideas while staying true to what has always made Boxcar special: honest songs, memorable melodies, and stories that stick with you long after the last note fades.
